The DOT Notebook Starter Kit connects the experience of writing in a physical notebook with the digital memories you capture on your phone.

Using the free DOT app, you can tap your phone to the top corner of your book and connect photos, songs, locations, or voice memos.

The Folio

Hand cut from full-grain cowhide, the DOT Folio is built to age. Over time the texture and the colour of the cover change, and its character simply reflects the stories you have captured with it.

The slim A5 frame slips into a bag without bulk. The modular interior holds up to three inserts or the DOT Studio Case, secured by a custom silver clip. Fill the pages, swap in a new refill, keep going.

The Refill

The included ruled refill has 64 numbered pages and is ready to hold photos, videos, voice memos, songs, locations, and links. The paper was designed in Japan and includes subtle vertical lines, so you can write freely or lay out a clean grid without pulling out a ruler.

A note on leather

Due to the nature of leather, the colour, texture, and thickness of each folio will vary slightly. Each DOT Notebook is naturally dyed without excessive surface treatment to bring out its natural texture, so there may be small scratches and wrinkles. We hope you'll enjoy them as part of its character.

The story of DOT (It's a good read I promise) 📖

Hi, if you are reading this, congrats most people don't get to this section. My name is Aaron, and I am the creator of DOT.

DOT is the culmination of over two years of product development, all focused on crafting the best writing experience possible.

DOT came from my love of adding photos to my journal. But after falling off my motorcycle while travelling in Vietnam and breaking my photo printer, I wanted a way to add my memories to the page without needing any extra gear. Since so many of our memories these days are held on our phones, I wanted to find a way to connect them to the page.

Everything was designed for a reason. The front strap comes from the hiking pack I took with me through Asia, and the straps were inspired by my grandmother's WWII satchel, as she was the person who first got me into journaling.

The book is the culmination of testing over 125 different leathers, moving to Japan for four months to research paper manufacturing, and learning how to code just to build the app.

I can't take all the credit, though. This product wouldn't have come to life without the incredible support of:

I have been waiting for this book for a year now and it's awesome to see the final product. I just regret not grabbing the studio case with it. Aaron you killed it!

The amount of effort behind this book is pretty incredible, both in the physical construction of the book but also the mobile app and how fun it is to use.

You can feel the quality of the book the second you touch it. The leather feels fantastic and something that is going to last for a long time. The DOT tags are also really cool. I don't always feel like writing but it's cool that I can just add a voice memo or just upload a recording of myself.
